From my own questing for fic, I have learned to love masterlists. So if anyone's looking for other things I have written, it's all here:

Organized by fandom under the cut! )

Comments and feedback always welcome!

Title: Carry Me Far
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~8000
Warnings: Some violence and injuries, not much more than found in canon
Summary: Athos was injured, imprisoned, and waiting for the worst, but it seemed that help was not as impossibly far away as he'd thought. (AU)

Notes: The initial idea for this story came from a conversation with [personal profile] lynndyre, who was also kind enough to let me ramble endlessly about it until I found a workable variation. The impetus to write the story was provided by the [livejournal.com profile] all4onebigbang challenge. And [livejournal.com profile] seryan was gracious enough to provide a rush job beta at my frantic request to ensure that the story (mostly) made enough sense to post. Remaining errors & issues are entirely my fault. Thanks to all for making this story a thing that actually exists!

Eyes open or closed, the darkness was so deep as to make no difference. )

Thanks for tackling the challenge of writing me a story. I look forward to reading it! :D

I'm going to go ahead and ramble for a bit about story elements and character tidbits that I like and those that I'd rather avoid. I hope they will help you refine your ideas rather than making you feel limited.

Likes, Dislikes, Etcetera and So Forth )

Thanks again, Mystery Author! I can't wait to read whatever you write. :)

Title: No Such Thing
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Word Count: ~800
Warnings: Crack. Animal Transformation.
Summary: When he'd joined the musketeers, Athos had been prepared for danger. He hadn't been prepared for this.

Notes: The lovely [personal profile] lynndyre and I have been trading squee and fic plotting for The Musketeers, tremendous fun in and of itself. But then she went and said this: "You called him grumpy cat Athos, and now all I can see is this round fluffy greyish brown ball of grump, with a short fat tail and little furry moustache/beard, and his ears perpetually sideways at the world. XD (Porthos is a huge chocolatey ragdoll cross, able to out-strut basically anything and also to occupy the entirety of a given surface, and Aramis a brown tabby with a long-haired tail, like a plume. Aramis can make the puss-in-boots face.)" My reaction can best be summed up by, "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED." She supplied the (wonderful!) embedded art. You have been warned. :D

Athos had avoided any extensive self-examination but he knew he was small. And scruffy. And a cat. )

Do yourselves a favour and go check out the rest of [personal profile] lynndyre's awesome art over here. It's brillant! :D (Fic snippets are pending.)
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Intercession
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Word Count: ~1000
Warnings: None
Summary: Aramis didn't need to be a priest to have faith - in fact, he had enough to share.

And what has God done for any of us lately? )

Another response to [personal profile] bbcmusketeerskink. :)
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Unsteady is the Ground
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~3200
Warnings: No worse than canon
Summary: Five times someone fainted.
Notes: Written in response to a prompt over at [personal profile] bbcmusketeerskink. Because the new series over on BBC has me swooning over swashbucklers again.

Exactly what it says on the tin. )

As expected, the series is neither faithful to the novels nor historically accurate but I am enjoying it nonetheless. :)

Title: The Highest Vision of the Soul
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: hinted Dean/Gabriel
Rating: R
Word Count: ~ 8000
Warnings: Canon character death, lots of swearing, mention of adult situations
Summary: Dean was no stranger to regrets, but he'd never expected to have this much trouble accepting the death of an irreverent, absentee archangel. Then again, it’d be a lot easier if he didn’t keep tripping over reminders of Gabriel all the freaking time. Or if he could stop dreaming about him.

Notes: Written for the 2013 Round of the Debriel Minibang over on LJ. Infinite thanks to Seryan for listening to me work out the plot and doing beta duty and also to Weekendship for the incredible accompanying artwork. Go check out the art masterpost HERE and tell Weekendship how amazing it is.

He remembered the shine of that blue sign on wet pavement, and they’d put it as far behind them as possible before stopping. )

Title: A Minute I Let My Guard Down
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gabriel/Dean
Rating: R (for language)
Word Count: ~ 2200
Warnings: If you’re here, you’re probably already aware of the blasphemy thing.
Summary: Sam finds out about them by accident.
Notes: Part of the Crawl To Your Foothill series. Titles from The Tea Party’s The Messenger.

It wasn’t that Dean was hiding his thing with Gabe, really. )

evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Not Expecting To Collide
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Dean/Gabriel
Rating: R
Word Count: ~ 2800
Warnings: Slash? Check. Blasphemy? Check. Good sense? Uh...must have missed that one.
Summary: Dean has a problem. Gabriel’s willing to lend a hand. (Or two.)
Notes: First in the Crawl To Your Foothill series. Titles from The Tea Party’s The Messenger.

There was no restraining a startled jump in response to the unexpected voice in his hotel room, but Dean counted it a victory that he managed to avoid tipping himself or his beer off the bed. )

The Masterpost for the Crawl To Your Foothill series.

Crawl To Your Foothill

Gabriel's secret is out, but he doesn't seem too eager to jump into his brothers' squabble. He'd be a useful ally, but Dean's got bigger problems to deal with than a reluctant archangel. But it's when Gabriel stops by with an offer for Dean that things get interesting.

All titles from The Tea Party's The Messenger.

(1) Not Expecting To Collide: Dean has a problem. Gabriel’s willing to lend a hand. (Or two.)

(2) A Minute I Let My Guard Down: Sam finds out about them by accident.

(3) This Desire I Can’t Kill: Dean likes it when Castiel visits ― just not on nights when Gabriel is around.

(4) What Our Fears Were All About: Dean’s got determination and balls to spare but that’s worth squat against the Devil. Too bad the only person powerful enough to make a difference can’t be bothered to lift a finger to help.

(5) Could Almost Touch Heaven: The Apocalypse is nigh and the Winchesters have lost their best chance of taking out the Devil. (Dean isn’t thinking about the fact that he may have lost more than that.)

(NB: Stories without active links are forthcoming.)

Title: Building Bridges
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~ 3500
Warnings: Nothing worse than would be found in either canon.
Summary: Thor’s search for his brother leads him to a meeting with a new brother-in-arms.
Notes: Goes AU after the Thor movie and early SPN S5, respectively.

The battle was going poorly for the beleaguered human warrior when Thor arrived on the field. )

Notes: Thanks to the lovely ladies over at Word Wars who encouraged and enabled this self-indulgent bit of crossover madness. :)
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Walking Too Far Ahead
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: None (yet)
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~ 1600
Warnings: Nope!
Summary: Derek had always hated the smell of cigarettes.

When Stiles finally showed up for the meeting that night, he was even more jittery than usual and reeked of cigarette smoke. )

Written a while ago but never posted. Found it while going through WIP folders, figured I might as well put it up. (Theoretically, there is more to this story but this one does stand alone.)
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Faithful
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: R (for language)
Word Count: ~ 2700
Warnings: Children being threatened
Summary: Sometimes, the trouble wasn't of the shrunken angels' making.
Notes: So earlier this week, I encountered the Ask SPN BB!verse for the first time. And fell in love. It's adorable and hilarious and highly, highly recommended. (And this coming from someone who doesn't read kidfic and prefers her angels powered-up!) Also, this fic won't make sense if you don't know the basic premise. The blog owner welcomes contributions so I wrote this as a thank you. :)

At first, though Dean hadn’t been thrilled at abruptly finding himself and Sam responsible for three miniaturized members of the Heavenly Host, he hadn’t been worried. )
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: The Tyranny of Petty Things
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Fandom: Transformers: G1
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~ 1700
Summary: Being part of a combiner team means never being alone.
Notes: Written for the December 2012 Anniversary Challenge over on [livejournal.com profile] gestalt_love. Rather than write 500+ words for a single prompt, I wrote 150-200 words for about ten of the prompts.

It started as a joke, a forgivably lighthearted way of defying the constant warfare of their lives. )

Notes: I’ve been away from my beloved Aerialbots for far too long!
evening_bat: Bat in flight, silhouetted against the moon. (Default)
Title: Knowledge In Pursuit
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Word Count: ~ 2200
Warnings: none
Summary: The military’s newest State Alchemist is a genius. And a prodigy. And a brat.
Notes: First in the Courage So Rare series.

When Colonel Hughes sailed into the Investigations Office that morning, he was full of effusive cheer, bestowing beaming smiles and bright greetings to everyone as he made his way into his office. )

Courage So Rare

Amazing cover graphic made by [livejournal.com profile] seryan.

It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare. ~ Mark Twain

An AU of the 2003 series, including some elements from Brotherhood.

(1) Knowledge In Pursuit: The military’s newest State Alchemist was a genius. And a prodigy. And a brat.

(2) Even To Live: All in all, Roy thought he’d rather face rogue chimera than accept help from the specialist Central had sent.

(3) What Is Demanded of Genius: When half of Central HQ went up in flames late one night, the military focused on the obvious suspect.

(4) Pleases the Eyes Only: Elric’s temper had gotten him into trouble again. Getting him out of it would require a bit of creativity on Roy’s part.

(5) The Outcome of Despair: Roy had been so busy wanting to strangle the kid that he’d forgotten that they all had reasons for accepting the military’s leash.

(6) The Worst Cowardice: Maes had always had a knack for making Roy confront uncomfortable truths.

(7) Build Your Wings: Plotting high treason was a delicate game; Edward was a dangerously unpredictable complication.

(8) More Important Than Fear: Edward’s knowledge of alchemy was encyclopedic, but his grasp of tactics was far less so.

(9) Passing Contentment: There was no array to repair the pieces of a shattered life.

Comments and feedback welcome! Thanks for reading.

Title: As If It Were Impossible
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG-ish
Word Count: ~ 3100
Warnings: mention of Ishval and violent imagery
Summary: It had seemed like a great idea at the time. Roy really should have expected things to go awry.
Notes: Pre-series, no particular canon.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] seryan for looking this over while I was writing it! Remaining issues are entirely my fault.

Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] akainagi for helping me remember how much I love this series! (And not so coincidentally, reminding me that I had projects-in-progress that I could finish up.)

It was almost a shame to interrupt such a pleasant scene but the military waited for no man. Or boy, as the case may be. )

Comments and feedback welcome! Thanks for reading.

Title: Liveware Problem
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: Rish (entirely for Ed's foul mouth)
Word Count: ~ 1400
Warnings: none
Summary: We seem to be experiencing a PEBKAC error.
Notes: So I used to work in a reception/tech support type role...  And when [livejournal.com profile] akainagi mentioned she was having a crappy day at work, it reminded me of this cracky bit of self-indulgence.  Hope it brightens someone’s day and uh, please to not be taking this at all seriously.

Everyone jumped when the door to their suite slammed open without warning. )

Title: In Three Words
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Betas: [livejournal.com profile] seryan and [livejournal.com profile] omphaloskepsist
Artists: [livejournal.com profile] unseensorrows and [livejournal.com profile] birddi
Fanmixers: [livejournal.com profile] masterpenguin82 and [livejournal.com profile] birddi
Series: Star Trek XI and Doom
Pairing: Jim Kirk/John Grimm
Rating: R
Word Count: ~ 27,000
Warnings: Reaper doesn’t have a pretty backstory. And serving on Starfleet’s flagship means that they get into some nasty messes. And did I mention Reaper’s backstory? (Blood & violence ahoy!)

Summary: Pike used George Kirk’s legacy to dare his son into Starfleet. It was John Grimm who taught Jim about living outside of his father’s shadow.

Notes:

Written for the 2012 [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang challenge. Loosely inspired by this prompt on the [livejournal.com profile] buckleup_meme, asking for Reaper living out in the open after First Contact. I doubt this is what the prompter had in mind but the bunny grew teeth when I poked at it once too many times.

A few important details... This is a double AU and I've had to fudge things to fuse the canons together. Therefore, the events of the Doom movie/game happen about 45 years earlier than stated and the Eugenics Wars happen about 10 years later than in Trek, both taking place in the early 2000s. This story begins in 2255, as per the movie timeline.

Infinite thanks go out to [livejournal.com profile] seryan and [livejournal.com profile] omphaloskepsist for the beta work and the encouragement to keep writing. This story would never have been finished without their efforts and would certainly be poorer without their input.

Art & Fanmixes

Cover art and the second story graphic were provided by [livejournal.com profile] unseensorrows and you can check out her masterpost here. [livejournal.com profile] birddi created the first and third images in the text.

You can download [livejournal.com profile] masterpenguin82’s awesome fanmix right here.

[livejournal.com profile] birddi created another great fanmix, which can be downloaded from here.

It was a privilege to work with these amazing collaborators! Their art and musical contributions are fantastic and you should absolutely tell them so.

"In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on." ~ Robert Frost

Signing your life away to Starfleet turned out to be a surprisingly easy process. )

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy the ride!

Title: Impossible To Ignore
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Chuck/Bryce
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~ 1200
Warnings: Drunken shenanigans?
Summary: It wasn’t that Chuck couldn’t hold his alcohol. It was that it led to him taking hold of other things.
Notes: So [livejournal.com profile] nevcolleil wrote ...are made of these in response to a prompt over on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic. I couldn’t resist replying with my own take on the prompt. :D Title from The Cranberries, to continue with the dream theme.

Chuck never did manage to remember what had happened the night before. )

Title: The Life of Spies
Author: [personal profile] evening_bat
Pairing: Chuck/Bryce
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~ 1950
Warnings: I see no reason to let a little thing like canon interfere with my OTP.
Summary: In retrospect, it seemed so obvious.
Notes: Response to this prompt over on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic.

Finding Chuck at the door was less of a surprise than it should have been. Or maybe it was just that Bryce was glad to see him. )
